From idea to an app in the App Store and Google Play in under 6 months

How Coblit designed and launched LIFT in under 6 months — an iOS and Android app that connects people through shared sports activities.

LIFT — a Coblit project
< 6 months
from idea to app in the stores
iOS + Android
one app for both platforms

About the project

LIFT

We designed and delivered a mobile app together with its back-end systems and marketing layer. Instead of the classic profile-based model, the app focuses on activities — users discover activities and join them with a single tap.

The outcome at a glance

  • A working mobile app for iOS and Android
  • Published on Google Play and the App Store
  • The ability to acquire first users
  • A foundation for building a community and a network effect

Project journey

From challenge to success

Problem

People who want to be physically active often have nobody to train with and no way to find local events. Classic social apps don't solve this problem in the context of real-world activities.

  • No simple way to find activity partners
  • No visibility of local events
  • Difficulty joining activities
  • No dedicated mobile tool

Cost of the problem

From a business perspective, this meant serious challenges for the start-up. In social apps, no users means no value.

  • No way to validate the idea
  • No first users
  • Risk of no network effect
  • Delayed market entry

Solution

We designed and delivered a mobile app together with its back-end systems and marketing layer. Instead of the classic profile-based model, the app focuses on activities — users discover activities and join them with a single tap.

  • Discovering and creating sports activities
  • Joining events with a single tap
  • Communication between participants
  • Foundations for community growth

Business results

After launch, the client had a working product available on the market.

  • A working mobile app for iOS and Android
  • Published on Google Play and the App Store
  • The ability to acquire first users
  • A foundation for building a community and a network effect

Who it’s for

Who this kind of solution helps most

We see similar challenges in many companies. If you recognise yourself in this list, this project shows what we can do for you too.

  • Start-ups building mobile apps
  • Companies creating social products
  • Sports clubs and training organisers
  • Sports brands building a community
  • Projects that need fast idea validation
  • Businesses based on local events

Why it works

5 reasons why this solution works

I want a similar solution
  1. Activities instead of profiles

Users immediately see training sessions and local events, so they find people to get active with more quickly.

  2. Joining with a single tap

A simple mechanism lowers the barrier to taking part, which is a prerequisite for building a network effect.

  3. iOS and Android at the same time

One app went into the App Store and Google Play, widening the pool of first users.

  4. Fast market entry

Less than 6 months passed from idea to app in the stores, so the start-up could validate its idea sooner.

  5. A website focused on installs

The app's WordPress website supports acquiring the first users.

How we ran the project

From analysis to ongoing development — one partner at every stage

This is how we worked together on the LIFT project: from understanding the processes, through wireframes and architecture, to rollout and further development.

  1. Analysis and workshops with the client’s team

We talk to the people who will use the system. We map out how processes work today, where time and money are being lost, and how they should work a year from now, once the company has grown.

    In this project
    • Together with the founders, we analysed what people looking for sports partners are missing
    • We chose activities over profiles, with a focus on the network effect
    What you gain

We build what solves a real problem — not a list of features nobody will use.

  2. UX/UI mock-ups and prototype

We design screens and user journeys in Figma and test a clickable prototype with future users before the first line of code is written.

    In this project
    • In Figma, we designed activity discovery and single-tap joining
    What you gain

You see and test the solution at the outset — changes to a mock-up cost a fraction of changes to a finished system. You can order the analysis and mock-ups as a separate stage.

  3. Technology selection and architecture

We choose technologies to match the goal, the budget and the systems already running in the company. We design the architecture, integrations and data security so that the system can grow together with the business.

    In this project
    • React Native for iOS and Android, a backend API with a database
    Technologies in this project
    • React Native
    • Backend API
    What you gain

No costly rework a year later — the system is ready for more users, more data and new features.

  4. Building in stages

We work in short stages and show a working version every few weeks. We launch the features that deliver the biggest savings first.

    In this project
    • Creating and discovering activities, communication between participants
    • An app website focused on installs
    What you gain

You have constant visibility of progress, a say in the direction and see the first results sooner.

  5. Testing, deployment and training

We test the system, migrate the data, launch it in the production environment and train the team in day-to-day use.

    In this project
    • Published in the App Store and Google Play less than 6 months after the idea
    Time to deployment

Project delivered in under 6 months — from idea to an app available in the stores.

    What you gain

A smooth start without downtime — from day one the team knows how to work in the new system.

  6. Support and development after launch (SLA)

After launch we monitor operation, respond to tickets under the SLA and extend the system with further features and automations.

    In this project
    • A foundation for building a community and further product development
    What you gain

One partner from idea to ongoing development — you are never left alone with the system.
