Knowledge about disability accessible to everyone — Polish Sign Language, easy-to-read text and quizzes

A mobile app and website for the GEST Society that educate about disability using Polish Sign Language (PJM), easy-to-read text (ETR), video and quizzes.

About the project

Towarzystwo GEST

As part of the initiative “Chcemy być sobą. Zwyczajni. Niezwyczajni.” (“We want to be ourselves. Ordinary. Extraordinary.”), we designed and delivered an educational platform: a mobile app (Android, iOS) and a website.

“Coblit helped us create modern digital solutions that support social education and communication about disability. Thanks to the platforms we implemented, we were able to reach our audiences more effectively and make content more accessible to different groups of users. It was very important to us that the team understood the social purpose of the project and took a flexible approach to delivering it. The cooperation was very professional, with great commitment from the team. We recommend Coblit for social and educational projects.”

The outcome at a glance

  • Wider access to knowledge
  • Better understanding of the topic
  • Greater engagement in education
  • A platform for different user groups

Project journey

From challenge to success

Problem

Knowledge about disability was hard to access and often difficult to understand — there was a lack of accessible materials and content adapted to different ways of perceiving information.

  • No accessible materials
  • Low understanding of the topic
  • No engaging forms of education
  • Content not adapted to different audiences

Cost of the problem

Every day without a solution meant more manual work, slower service and missed opportunities.

  • Low public awareness
  • Communication barriers
  • Some users excluded

Solution

As part of the initiative “Chcemy być sobą. Zwyczajni. Niezwyczajni.” (“We want to be ourselves. Ordinary. Extraordinary.”), we designed and delivered an educational platform: a mobile app (Android, iOS) and a website.

  • Knowledge base about disability
  • Video materials, including in PJM (Polish Sign Language)
  • Simplified content (ETR, easy-to-read)
  • Quizzes and exercises
  • Search and push notifications
  • Website with guides

Business results

After the rollout, the client had a working solution that took over work previously done by hand.

  • Wider access to knowledge
  • Better understanding of the topic
  • Greater engagement in education
  • A platform for different user groups

Who it’s for

Who this kind of solution helps most

We see similar challenges in many companies. If you recognise yourself in this list, this project shows what we can do for you too.

  • Public and educational institutions
  • Schools, nurseries and universities
  • Non-governmental organisations
  • EU-funded projects
  • Foundations supporting people with disabilities
  • Companies running CSR and educational activities

Why it works

5 reasons why this solution works

I want a similar solution
  1. Knowledge in different forms

Text, video and materials in PJM reach people who perceive information in different ways.

  2. Easy-to-read text

ETR content helps people for whom standard language is a barrier to understand the topic.

  3. Learning by doing

Quizzes and exercises turn passive reading into active learning, which increases engagement.

  4. App and website together

The materials are available on Android, iOS and the web, so users choose the channel that suits them.

  5. Easy to return to content

Search helps find materials quickly, and push notifications announce new ones.

How we ran the project

From analysis to ongoing development — one partner at every stage

This is how we worked together on the Towarzystwo GEST project: from understanding the processes, through wireframes and architecture, to rollout and further development.

  1. Analysis and workshops with the client’s team

We talk to the people who will use the system. We map out how processes work today, where time and money are being lost, and how they should work a year from now, once the company has grown.

    In this project
    • Together with the GEST Society, we analysed what forms of communication different audiences need
    What you gain

We build what solves a real problem — not a list of features nobody will use.

  2. UX/UI mock-ups and prototype

We design screens and user journeys in Figma and test a clickable prototype with future users before the first line of code is written.

    In this project
    • We designed content in PJM, easy-to-read text (ETR) and video, as well as quizzes
    • We designed with accessibility in mind for different ways of perceiving information
    • Mock-ups and a clickable prototype prepared in Figma
    What you gain

You see and test the solution at the outset — changes to a mock-up cost a fraction of changes to a finished system. You can order the analysis and mock-ups as a separate stage.

  3. Technology selection and architecture

We choose technologies to match the goal, the budget and the systems already running in the company. We design the architecture, integrations and data security so that the system can grow together with the business.

    In this project
    • A React Native mobile app (Android, iOS) and a WordPress website as one educational system
    Technologies in this project
    • React Native
    • WordPress
    What you gain

No costly rework a year later — the system is ready for more users, more data and new features.

  4. Building in stages

We work in short stages and show a working version every few weeks. We launch the features that deliver the biggest savings first.

    In this project
    • Knowledge base, PJM videos, ETR content, quizzes and search
    • Push notifications and a website with guides
    What you gain

You have constant visibility of progress, a say in the direction and see the first results sooner.

  5. Testing, deployment and training

We test the system, migrate the data, launch it in the production environment and train the team in day-to-day use.

    In this project
    • We launched the app and website for a broad audience
    What you gain

A smooth start without downtime — from day one the team knows how to work in the new system.

  6. Support and development after launch (SLA)

After launch we monitor operation, respond to tickets under the SLA and extend the system with further features and automations.

    In this project
    • The platform is ready for more educational materials
    What you gain

One partner from idea to ongoing development — you are never left alone with the system.
